  1. The glasses weren’t knee level because of Saturn, they were knee level because Saturn was in Virgo. All Earth Signs relate to places near-down or low to the floor. Virgo is also a bit more descriptive of the location, the glasses were inside a storage container for the Legos, which is something Virgo signifies.

Also, Saturn is close enough to be considered in the Tenth house, not the Ninth. :-S

  2. Many people that are reading this blog may not realize that Ryoin is a Traditional Astrologer and is very fixed with his interpretations, especially in Horary.

William Lilly does write of a planet within 5 degrees orb to a cusp. Looking through what I found in Lilly’s Christian Astrology (oh and I am sure I missed stuff, that book is huge) is that a planet within the 5 degrees is considered a conjunction with the cusp and influences and influenced by the house it is in conjunct with. I could not find any reference to disregard the house the planet is currently located in. This is also a point mentioned by the more modern Astrologers, such as Alan Leo, Marc Edmund Jones, Robert Hand amongst others, to look at both houses when a planet conjuncts the cusp.

I do respect the Traditional views in Astrology, but have often wondered at what point do you go back to and at what point do you start. Should we discount anything after the Babylonians, the Hellenistic period, or the Arabic Astrologers? Should we go back to 2 BC and use the Whole House System or do we move forward… Even with Lilly, horary had been successful centuries prior to his translations of texts. This is a whole argument for another day.

As for Earth signs being related to near the floor… I need to go research a bit more before commenting, my understanding in lost items it is the house, not necessarily the sign that gives direction (especially where the POF is located) I was at fault for not disclosing that my interpretation of Saturn, regardless of what sign or house is found in, is something I had personally stumbled upon and seen consistently work… I really should have mentioned it had no Astrological reference other than my own.

  3. “I could not find any reference to disregard the house the planet is currently located in.”

That’s because it goes without saying, as a planet cannot be within two houses at the same time. It’s either in one house or it’s in the other, and being conjoined to the cusp of a house makes it in that house. Even Astro.com and it’s uber-modernness follows this idea in their interpretations by interpreting planets at the end of a house as in the next one.

“…my understanding in lost items it is the house, not necessarily the sign that gives direction…”

This is actually correct, though. The house gives direction, the Sign gives descriptions.
