Astrology: Can I Quote You On That?

I don’t believe in astrology; I’m a Sagittarius and we’re skeptical. ARTHUR C. CLARKE

I live in Colorado Springs. We are known for many distinctions: The Air Force Academy, Pikes Peak, the Garden of the Gods, the home of Nikolai Tesla during his work with the Tesla Coil, the US Olympic training center, Fort Carson and Peterson AFB plus NORAD, Linda Goodman wrote about the city and the now gone Chinook bookstore in Sun Signs, birth place of Lon Cheney, Cassandra Peterson (Elvira Mistress of the Dark), Katherine Lee Bates wrote “America the Beautiful” during a visit to the city, home of fictional TV character Medicine Woman, and most of all, we have churches, lots and lots of churches. You probably all know Focus on the Family and New Life Church and their crazy founder’s exploits. Yeah, all are located here… along with dozens of start up churches in every strip mall. The city is known for the conservative mouth pieces such as Perkins and his infamous eventually defeated amendment 2. There are more conservative Christians than you can shake a stick at… just saying.

Tesla Coil

My children have been raised Agnostic. They worked with me when I worked on very liberal political agendas. We have our presidential yard signs, celestial decorations on the house, and John Lennon bumper stickers on the fuel efficient imported car. The kids may as well have gone to school with targets painted on their foreheads. When they are young, they readily accept the indoctrinations of the parents. Their friends are good little kids on Sundays at least, and ready to preach their dogma to anyone that challenges what they have been told. My daughter didn’t care, her Leo Sun and Libra Moon had more important things to do and get to the serious business of playtime. Her brother is a mutable cornucopia. At the tender age of 8 told me he will register independent when he gets older, so his friends won’t be mad… he was also telling them he had the same Christian beliefs… He outgrew that eventually. What he didn’t outgrow was the whole, “yo Momma” thing.

Astrology quickly became off topic when he discovered that he was alone in the belief and these little friends had no problem telling him I was a fraud, insane, sleeping with Satan himself. (Jeez, even Bill Nye, the Science Guy threw me under the bus!) I was thrilled when he found his new friend, Ben. Ben comes from another liberal family and they are Atheist. Astrology as a subject still took a serious bashing. Ben here was taught the rigid “prove it” mentality and everything is a con. Ben told my son, “Astrology was invented by some guy that wanted to make money.” I think he enjoyed the hurt look in my son’s eyes… he wouldn’t let go of it and got more brazen over time. In a bid for, I don’t know, maybe attention? Within earshot Ben announces, “I do not believe in Astrology, it isn’t real”. Mercury conjunct Mars engaged and out of my mouth came, “I do not believe in you, you are not real”. It would sound silly to any other child, but this one was a Sagittarian with an existential bend. That will keep him up for a few nights. Months later the taunting started again and I decided to arm my son with some advice and irrefutable information and quotes by famous and respected people on the subject of Astrology.

Advice for anyone that is in conflict with non Astrology believers; one thing is, do not force your beliefs on someone else, seriously annoying no matter what side of the coin you live on. I have found to forewarn about a retrograde as the easiest way to open up and plant seeds. “Yeah, Mercury retrograde is coming up, be sure to stock up on batteries and keep an eye on electrical appliances… lots of miscommunications, don’t be surprised to find snafus with any type of communication, like email, phones, mail….“. Questions will come. Next, have a few examples and quotes on the ready.

Anyone can be a millionaire, but to become a billionaire you need an astrologer.
~John Pierpont Morgan

“Astrology is a science in itself, and contains an illuminating body of knowledge. It has taught me many things, and I am greatly in debt to it.”
~ Albert Einstein

“The celestial movements are the cause of all that takes place on Earth.”
~St.Thomas Aquinas

“I always keep my weather eye on the opposition of my seventh house Moon to my first house Mars.”
~President Theodore Roosevelt

A quick internet search will find that: President Ronald Reagan and wife Nancy used Astrology to make daily decisions. Ronald Reagan’s Chief of Staff (Donald Reagan) had said: “It’s common knowledge that a large percentage of Wall Street brokers use Astrology.”

Benjamin Franklin…. when not busy flying kites or inventing the Pony Express, studied Astrology and used the knowledge to publish the Farmer’s Almanac.

It takes some searching, but there are letters written between Jung and Freud. Mostly Freud insinuating even with “treasures” to be found with Astrology, the rest of their peers would consider it quackery.

For the Science is the only truth crowd….. um, the world is round, remember that old myth buster? If Science has all the answers, then why is there still research? Astrology just hasn’t been put under the microscope and studied with scientific methods. Usually it is just dismissed with a brush of the hand by scientists not acting very scientific. Ridicule until proven is the mode of operation. Oh, news flash…. just in a few days ago… http://www.space.com/15499-dark-matter-theory-galaxy-structures.html That tells us it looks like Dark Matter doesn’t exist…. whooopsi NASA http://science.nasa.gov/astrophysics/focus-areas/what-is-dark-energy/ I will refrain from calling it the dark matter conspiracy theory… um, no I won’t.

Armed with that information, I can comfortably look a 12 year old in the eyes and say:

Are you as popular as Reagan? Smart as Einstein or Franklin? As religiously dialed in as St. Thomas? Or even as loveable as teddy bear inspiring President Theodore Roosevelt? Do you have a toy named after you? Do you?? Well do you? Are you sure they are all wrong? Aristotle created the Animal Kingdom classifications, that is good, following Astrology, that is bad. You know what that is? That is cherry picking. And as his little eyes fill with tears threatening to spill over at the rant about NASA, I will just say, “Sorry, that is Mercury conjunct Mars Exhalted, I just can’t control the little rascals.”

Guesstrology

People have commented to me about how quiet I have been.  Us 12th house types tend to isolate ourselves in order to learn compassion, understanding, and wisdom.  In my case it has been retrospective, questioning, festering, and showing little patience.  Maybe that is the transit Mars Rx.  Or it could be my full Moon configuration at birth.  Oooh, or my great grandmother’s natal Harvest Moon. Yeah, I don’t know, but could easily guess some combination.

I have great respect for Horary Astrology and those that practice the craft.  It is a quick turn around to find out how talented you really are with the understanding of what the stars are saying.  I do discount Relationship horarys as they do not give concrete, cut and dry solutions.  Seriously, trying asking the horary “does he think I look fat in this outfit”.  No matter what the horary says, his answer will be, no of course not (barring he does not have a Sag Merc and the will to die).  A good horary reading can easily take over an hour to do, often to the chagrin of the querant and all those pesky details they didn’t mention and tried to hide.

Predictive Astrology is the one place to really test the accuracy and knowledge of an Astrologer.  It can be scary, and often configurations overlooked make the Astrologer look wrong…. I think that is why we don’t see much prediction being done anymore.  Who wants to be wrong when all we have to do is point at something and say, “ah ha, that is why” and not have to back it up with a solid reason.  There is a basic flaw in logic to say x=y when in fact x= y, c, k, and a banana boat.  Input must produce a singular output conclusion or it becomes a Nonlinear equation…. (and my son said, Jeeze Mom, when will I ever use Algebra in real life) If an aspect equals an outcome, we should all be able to predict with ease.  It is maddening to read, “she died because the transit Moon conjunct her Pluto”  That happens to the entire world population every month, we should all be dead by that reasoning!   Or as a friend of mine told me about her child licking his food before tasting it, exclaiming, “There is that Taurus Moon”.  In a few years when the same kid is found licking the windows, maybe the realization of an afflicted Mercury will make more sense.  Then again, maybe they are right, but I don’t remember 1 out of 12 people licking their salad before dining, I should pay more attention.

Astrology is very dear to me and I am saddened by how much guessing is going on and all the back slapping of “Brilliant!” to hear “Brilliant!” being said back and add another to their “friend” list.  Maybe I am in the wrong expecting accountability with readings, new meanings assigned to pieces of space specks, and no way to challenge any of it because of an  ”I said so” mentality.  New Astrology students asking “What does it mean if my Vertex is semi square asteroid Amour” before they can even tell you why Mercury in Pisces is in detriment and fall.  It doesn’t matter, you can answer, I saw that once before and it means blah blah blah, so now it is a Universal truth.  If it gets published and repeated and never questioned… you get the idea. Who needs basics, who needs proof, who needs research, who needs logic, when all you need is a blog and a thousand friends on FaceBook.

Pluto… it is like Neptune without lubricant

The current Pluto transit is conjunct my Sun in the 12th and opposed my Moon in the 6th.   I don’t  much of a difference than when the same path was taken by Saturn, Uranus, or Neptune except the naked intensity.   Having the Sun in the 12th is a position of dissolving one’s ego.  The outer planets in bad aspect really make sure of the ego punches.  Now I am on Pluto’s dance card.

Facebook was the vehicle for my own self  undoing.  I had friends, friends of friends, and friends that had a few thousand other friends.  Vulnerable and ever trusting, I took it all to be honest.  Blogs popped up everywhere.  Some from authors I greatly respect, many others by those that are sharing what they have learned, others by…. well anyone with a computer can run a blog.   I notice some would say “achoo” and get thirty responses of “bless you”… I felt so lonesome with my on my status getting one like…. and that being a family member.  I cultivated  wonderful friendships, made out of late night messaging, dealing with dramas and life altering moments, the stuff love is made of.  Then these new friends friended my old friends, the familiarity they used publishing comments took me back.  I did start seriously questioning my abilities and how stingy I was not showering everyone with what I reserve for those I care for.  Then the final straw, my self esteem plummeted to new lows.  People that I have respected for various reasons were now announcing to Facebook, their spending habits and showing off what was purchased, or how much a bill was for something.  There were thumbs up all over those posts and chatty conversations about their purchases or preferences.  It really read as very hollow, once forgotten and then it would happen again and again.  I wondered where my friends, and where my life went.  Over a year of Facebook and it seemed to be challenging all of my beliefs and where I draw boundaries.  I found I was crippled and didn’t want to face realities (such as bills) and didn’t feel competent enough to write and lost interest in Astrology.

Pluto has hit my Sun conjunct once and then retrograde and now back again.  I joined up as a moderator on an Astrology forum.  I needed to be surrounded by Astrologers and students.  With transit Saturn going through the ninth house, limitations in Astrology the forum moderating fit the bill.  I wanted to unfriend many on Facebook, but feared a chain reaction not seens since the declarations of WWI and the inner-fighting and posturing of allies.  I eventually realized that, well…. that I am not that important.  So I did cut away mostly people that had over 200 friends, figuring I was just a number, not a person.  I still have friends that are considered important that also concentrate on material acquisitions, and am okay with it…. I have an intercepted Leo in the seventh.  Maybe I need these friends as a reminder, we are here in physical forms in a physical world.  The name dropping, took a bit but I did finally notice that the authors never name drop or acknowledge their name dropping friend.  As for those blogs written by anyone that can figure out how to use WordPress… well hell, I may just very well be one of them and busy projecting my own doubts and fears.

Some of you following along with different posts here and there know that I am having some health issues.  Walking is almost impossible now.  I do use a cane if I am going anywer… but it is a matter of time I will have to get a wheel chair.  This last month as Pluto zoned in an exact conjunct, my sister (whom I rely on greatly) had a surgery that kept her home bound.  I had to rely on others (that I even paid, mind you) and the resentment was palatable.   There is the conference happening in New Orleans this year, and I was all set to go… but things didn’t pan out that way.  Honestly, I am grateful that I am not going.   I would need to rely on someone to just get around or a “hey, could you go get me a soda”.  That didn’t set well with me… and there are going to be people there I have met here online and shared notes and such.  I would like to meet these people full on my feet and healthy.  I know, it doesn’t matter does it?  Well, just using a cane, I find people will speak slowly and louder while nodding their heads at me.  If I am with another person, they will talk to that person about me in third person… like I am zoned out and standing  there drooling.   So for now, it is all good… hoping by the next retrograde over my Sun, I will let the feeling sorry for myself dissolve and find how I can take charge.  There are many others who have had bigger limitations not stop them.

The Pluto transit is much like the other ones, but definitely intense.   Once you walk the uncomfortable path of fire, there is a confidence in knowing you do not know.  There is a liberation in the realization that you can not control others or the outcome.  The only thing you are in control of us your own perception and how you choose respond.  It feels like being able to take a nap in the midst of a tornado.

Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable
spark in the hopeless swaps of the not-quite,
the not-yet, and the not-at-all. Do not let the hero
in your soul perish in lonely frustration for the
life you deserved and have never been able to reach.
The world you desire can be won. It exists.. it is real,
it is possible .. it’s yours.

Astrology: Neptune, you have overstayed your welcome.

I really had to narrow down from a long list on what to name this blog posting.  I was tempted to go with, don’t let the door hit you on your way out.  How about putting out fire with gasoline.  I thought that one interesting since we don’t associate Neptune with fire, but it fit.  Finally, I can say I am not tied in with Neptune and a series of conjunctions that have lasted most of my life.  Progression wise, there is distance also.  The only thing to watch will be the Neptune Solar Arc, sitting on my Natal Sun and Transit Pluto.  I hope that won’t be as potentially explosive as it sounds.  I have come to discover how dependent and co dependent behavior are the putting the fire out with gasoline that I mentioned.

Compassion is the word I most associated with Neptune.  Familiarity does breed contempt, now I also associate dishonesty, apathy, delusion, and addiction with the planet.  As the Planet of  shattered dreams ebbs away from any direct hits, I have slowly realized how I created my own hell.  And how did I manage that?  Compassion was my gasoline.  I can and have made excuses for everyone.  My daughter had caught on to my pattern and reminds me that I can not date anyone I feel sorry for, yeah that has kept me at home for the last year.

I think that the love of freedom that springs from my Aquarian housed planets assumes that everyone will treat each other fairly.  My natal Neptune is on the MC, I am a beacon for lost souls.  This is not a great combination, as they square each other.  How does one show compassion and yet not keep the cycle going?  One is to realize that nothing is as it seems.  What might be uncomfortable is just that, rarely is it a matter of life or death.   Is the quick fix and giving in really doing anyone a favor?  Probably not, and often the peripheral damage is the worst. (just ask children of alcoholics what I mean)

So now that I no longer want to encourage ill behaviors, how can I change it?  The fog has lifted, I can only change myself.  I have to set boundaries and enforce them.  I am not taking away from anyone, just protecting myself…. and in the long run giving the dependent  person their own set of guidelines on how to deal with me.  All around it sounds healthy, right?  Accepting anything less is the old Neptune shell game.

The Angular Houses

The Angular houses consist of the 1st, 4th,7th, and 10th.  The signs that correspond to these houses are the Cardinal ones; Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn.  These houses start each cusp with one of the axis of the Ascendant/Descendant or MC/IC in the majority of the house systems.  Planets found in these positions will be stronger than in other locations.   In Horary, it represents shorter intervals of time and a more likely favorable outcome.

I am going into rant mode for the moment.   I have interacted with Astrology students and found a disturbing trend.   The need to be fair slopped over into an argument that all of the houses are just as powerful and the we are all equal and whatever.  No, it is not equal, nor are individuals.  We have driven dynamic humans and we have milquetoast, and everything in between.  It is a disservice to the credibility of Astrology if it needs to be watered down to the lowest common denominator.

THE FIRST HOUSE

The first house begins with the Ascendant.   The Ascendant marks the placement of the eastern horizon at the time a horoscope is cast, and from there the rest of the chart is drawn.   The house represents our personality, our physical appearance, and our bodies.  All of that modified with the Lord of the cusp and it’s placement and condition.  Also planets found on this angle will be amplified throughout the life.   It represents the physical condition (Jacobson’s gives it a car’s condition… so car would be first also)  This house also rules the head when working with Decumbiture charts or specifics with Horary.  In Event and Horaray, the first house is the Querent, the person asking the question, or the person or thing that initiated the event.  It also  is the placement for the “home team” in a VS type of chart used with competitions, with sports teams, lawsuits, and wars.  Raphael (Cross) mentions the first house items from many turned charts scenarios…. such as it is the wife of an enemy or partner (the 7th from the 7th is the 1st)  He also uses it when answering questions with planets and locations instead of having a quested significator.   Accidents, frame of mind, the state of ships at sea,  with Jacobson adding health, birth, arrivals, the present, adventure, new ventures, new comers,  Grandparents and Great Grandchildren.     The color associated with the house is white according to William Lilly.  The direction given is East.

THE FOURTH HOUSE

With most systems of houses, the fourth cusp is marked with the IC.  In this house we find the foundations, the beginnings, and the ends.  Before the musical chairs of house assignments, the fourth was known as the house representing death, anciently the joy of Saturn instead of the 12th.  The fourth is our past, our paternal legacy and the location of the father.  The Lord of the cusp and it’s aspects and placement will tell more of the house story.  This is also the house of hidden treasures, or resources found underground, wells, drilling, anything with roots.  In Horary and Event Charts, this is the house for property for sale, leases, buildings, graves, miners, gardeners, farmers, juryman (Jacobson) and items lost.  Raphael adds fields, land, vineyards… The most often use is the house of the end of matters (Jacobson reminds us to look at the turned fourth in Horarys)  This may be one of the most common mistakes by those learning Horary.  The fourth is just the conclusion, as many students take it to mean no, nothing will happen instead of remembering happy endings happen too :)   Decumbiture assigns the fourth with the chest, lungs, and ribs.   The associated color is red, and the direction is North.

THE SEVENTH HOUSE

The seventh house is also known as the Descendant, the sunset of the chart.  It is where the marriage partner, all love affairs, legal partnerships, lawyers, and thieves are found.  The seventh also represents where open enemies, divorces, separations, agreements, lawsuits, runaways, contracts, treaties and war are located.  Also this house is used to represent undesignated persons often in Horary and Event charts.  What we find in the seventh tends to be traits that are found in others and are a quiet influence in the Natal Chart.   *Raphael gives speculations in stocks….  The consensuses is that it belongs in the fifth house instead.*   When working with Horary, the seventh house is the Astrologer’s house.  If the Lord is afflicted or Saturn found in the seventh, there is reason to proceed with caution, as it is a reason to believe the Astrologer reading will be faulty.  The house is the opposite the first, so it is the house of the visiting team  or enemy in VS  Event and Horary charts.   With decumbiture, the lower trunk of the body consisting of lower intestines, kidneys, bladder, reproductive, and buttocks area are all included.  The color representing the seventh is dark colors and black.  The direction for the house is West.

THE TENTH HOUSE

The Tenth House has a cusp beginning with the MC (depending on the house system).  As people we often identify ourselves as our profession.  The tenth house represents careers, infamy or notoriety, fate,  and station in life.  Much will be modified by the Lord of the Cusp and planet within the house.  The tenth is also given the querent’s mother,  royalty, government, superiors, courts, executives, judges, cousins, reputation and conviction. If working with Horary, it is important to remember that it is the turned fourth to the seventh house (the outcome for the other one).   The knee, shin and thighs and sciatic nerve are represented in this house.  The color for the tenth house is pink (light red).  The direction is South.

You know you are an astrologer when:

…You already had an answer before finishing  reading past the title.

  • when you are guessing movie character’s Sun Signs
  • when you check Mercury’s condition before signing paperwork on a new car
  • when you have learned it is pointless to correct someone that Aquarius is not a water sign
  • when you know the birth date of your pets off the top of your head
  • when you hear %$#$#&  and the thought you have is “someone has a Gemini Mars”
  • when after chemically cleaning the bathroom, you announce, “smells like a Virgo has been here”
  • when you find it funny to offer your Libra friend a choice.
  • when you have dozens of Google searches for “how to  keep clothes on Aquarians”
  • when you have assigned all bosses and authority figures those damn Capricorns
  • when you have started substituting Leo for King…. such as “a meal fit for a Leo”
  • when you make constellations out of star stickers or star decals.
  • when you dress up as a Scorpio for a Costume party, just to see what all the fuss is about
  • when you relish speaking of angles and degrees, when in fact math was your worst subject
  • when you know most gifts you receive will have planets or stars on them or the wrapping paper
  • when you feel annoyance at tabloid headlines involving astrology
  • when you have been asked by at least a dozen strangers “am I pregnant” or “when will I marry”?

Horary, Calling in an Expert: Frank Piechoski

Horary Astrology is very accurate, if you know what you are doing.  Recently, I made a chart that seemed could be interpreted a number of ways.  I did ask a number of Astrologer friends a few questions and just off the top of their heads, the answers were all over the board.  I jump the gun often and make hasty interpretations, forgetting basic and often opting for obscure techniques that may have worked for another Astrologer once.  After seeing this chart and convinced the querent needed to get out there and start wedding shopping, I took a breath and thought “nothing is this simple”.  I sent the information to Frank Piechoski and learned all over again.  The bottom of this blog will contain the contact information and a bio on Frank.

The chart was made May 10th, 2011 in Security, Colorado @ 23:00.  The question was:  Will this be a long term relationship?  The couple had recently met and everything hit off with a bang.  The first thing to notice is the poor quality of the question.  There is no perimeter on the amount of time long term means to the querent and the type of relationship is not addressed.   I saw the 24 degree over and over,  the Significators, the Moon, the POF, and Venus… I enthusiastic assumed this was a big YES, it couldn’t be more perfect.  Then I called in the big guns :)

PIECHOSKI:

There are several issues with this chart that make it a rather complicated delineation – the nature of the question – “Will this blossom into a long-term relationship” being one of them.  The question is not will there be a relationship at all – since there already is one – but the length and endurance of it.  First, there is a late rising degree of 28 Sagittarius 39, meaning that it’s pretty late in the game to be asking a question. The female querent’s main significator Jupiter is well posited in Aries in a nocturnal chart and thus in Triplicity – and is angular (meaning that it is able to operate well). The querent’s secondary significator, Venus is in Detriment, but saved from the Peregrine condition by placed in her own Face. She is also co-present in the same degree as the main significators and applies to the quested. She also rules the 5th House. The quested’s main significator is Peregrine and also angular and also co-present in the same degree as the querent and applying. The quested secondary significator, Mars (as a male) is also in Aries.  The Moon is trine the quested’s significator, Jupiter and past it by only 4 minutes of arc – so according to Lilly in Christian Astrology, it has not yet separated.  The Moon also appears to make a trine to Mars as her final aspect before departing Leo – but if we look at it more closely, Mars will actually leave Aries before the Moon can catch him to complete the aspect. Fortune is also in 24 degrees – but in Virgo so it doesn’t behold either the Moon in Leo or the Mercury/Venus/Mars clump.  For me, the telling factor of this exercise is that all the significators are angular in Aires – a Cardinal, fast-moving sign. The only bodies in Fixed signs are the Sun and Moon (which is also faster than her average motion) – and they are both Peregrine. In my opinion, this is a fast-burning relationship. Yes, there is a relationship – but this chart doesn’t bode well for longevity.  Mercury runs toward everything – but Mars is emphatically running away after fire runs out.

There were additional tidbits of information that was shared in other emailings.  They may appear in a random fashion, and rest assured I am pulling them out of context.

PIECHOSKI

  • She is Jupiter (and Moon and Venus) with dignity by Triplicity.
  • He is Mercury, Peregrine and Mars and Sun – Mars has Dignity.
  • The Sun and Moon are in Fixed signs, so that is an argument for the long haul.
  • The 24-degree stuff is in the same degree as Fortune – but they don’t see Fortune because they are inconjunct.
  • Seven point s in Cardinal shows it is moving very quickly.
  • Look at the Moon’s last aspect before it leaves Leo . It appears to be a trine to Mars – but wait – Mars will leave Aries prior to the Moon completing the trine. I think even though there’s a lot going on here, he might not stick around.
  • Lilly says 6 minutes until a planet is separate

I overlooked much of what Frank pointed out,  what I noticed was  is the Latitudes of Declination, Jupiter and the Moon are conjunct but out of aspect to Mercury.  Oh, and I could do a triple flip before learning to walk…. the Moon is not VoC by Antiscion (use only if the rest of the chart supports) Speaking of which, note the Moon is apparently not VoC because she is applying in Trine to Mars, or is she VoC,  because the perfection never happens since Mars slips into Taurus (his Detriment and in Venus’ term, and ruler) before the trine, sort of escaping.   The close placement of the Significators and Venus( in her Detriment) between them, I assumed to just look at it as one big conjunction (and still would in Natal) since they all are laced together with the 6 minute rule…. but if they had been separated with a larger orb, it would be an interposing aspect as Venus cuts off Mercury from reaching Jupiter first, or it could be a Translation of Light… if a 3rd party were involved or Venus was not in Detriment I would think more positive.  I believe this is interposing, and with it being Venus, not a painful thing.  Now all that said, um the Moon is in the 8th house.

The Outcome

It started off where they both enjoyed each other’s company.  Over the course of a few weeks, it became obvious that it was that pesky interpose with Venus between them.  The two have very different values in matters that belong to Venus (they both like movies, just different kinds, both love music, different kinds, both love art, different kinds, I foresee problems just picking out a comforter to share.  Venus as the cusp of the 5th, they share the same hobby, again just differently.   As for a long term relation?  They are still friendly to each other, and like each other and can not imagine not considering each other as acquaintances.   So, the relationship may very well be long term, just a different one than was imagined by the querent.  Noted is also that the querent initiated all the changes, seen in Mercury’s (quested) state of Peregrine.  The funniest thing in this blog, is when Frank points out that Mars has dignity (just before the great escape to Taurus) read as literal.

Neptune in Pisces; What a Fine Kettle of Fish

I have been focusing and observing what transit Pluto was doing being conjunct my Sun, that I didn’t notice slippery Neptune when he crossed over to Pisces.   My life is being turned upside down (in a fun sort of way… yay Jupiter Apex of a Tsquare) and in a Cappy no nonsense way, anything that doesn’t work is being thrown out.   What is left is oddly what I started with many years ago on the verge of adulthood.  Apparently, one can go though life and accumulate enough so they are not themselves any longer.

I decided to sell off all my parrots.  There was a couple that wanted very badly to take the entire flock (I held back two) and payment arrangements were made.  OMG I forgot Saturn was going to go RX one last time in my 8th house…. the turned 2nd from the 7th.  I have had to fight and fight and threaten to just get paid monthly.   I know another blog about the 8th and Saturn I said I learned…. well sort of, this time I did threaten.   I was told by my good friend (pet store owner) who was the focus of the last Saturn rx and not paying me, that the people I did the deal with are good people, but every deal they make sours…..   and it has, curdled right up and died.  Friend did mention they used to deal in tropical fish.  That got the old noggin working.  As the woman defensively answered her phone, I disarmed her talking about tropical fish.  We have a turtle that I got when he was the size of a nickle, and he is now the size of a saucer and out grown his tank.  Well well, a 40 gallon aquarium was offered in place of a late payment.   A little more conversation and I found myself taking a 90 gallon aquarium and stand for the rest of the missed payments.   I looked at the ephemeris, April 5th, and low and behold Neptune was at zero degree Pisces.   The turtle tank showed up and arrangements to bring over the other tank were made.

Changes happening everywhere, and I am calmly accepting them, as it seems I was carrying many burdens I never needed to.  I am excited about creating the new tank.  When I was 18, I had a goal to become a tropical fish breeder/farm.  Pretty wild, since I live in a land locked area with weather patterns that wouldn’t agree.  We have some geothermal springs south west of here and I thought… I could work with that, but the Talapia industry started farming fish there because of the warm springs.  See, it wasn’t a hair brained idea.   I am getting the tropical fish bug bite again (that sounded bad) I look at that empty tank and wonder the possibilities I could use it for.  How did I ever let this part of me go?  OH, it was the marital relationships and compromise.  Need to write a list of what is acceptable to me now  One, love aquariums, 2, likes lemons (that is seriously a deal breaker ) Does that mean that I became someone else, I sold out?  Damn you Pluto, time to take that, your yucky medicine.  What has been salvaged so far?  Tropical fish fancy, the color green, listening to the Blues, Astrology, cooking with spices, and a Siamese Cat, just who I always was under the yoke of expectations.

Speaking of the cat, this is weird.  The Siamese had a set of kittens about a week old.   She went out to do her business and didn’t return.  I had to hand feed the kittens and worried what could have happened to her.  2 weeks later (called by Ryoin and a Horary that I hope he shares here) she shows up hysterical meowing at the door.  I am petting her and notice there is iodine stain on her shaved belly and an incision scab… she was stolen and fixed!  I don’t know where to even look for that… 7th house if the thief?  I do have the Saturn going rx in the 8th…. I don’t know.  I think I will chalk it up to Alien probe.

The First Meeting Chart

There are always new beginnings all around us.  A seasoned Astrologer or a serious student will make sure that there is a reliable time piece around to be able to document times as they just pop up.   But even the best of the best sometimes do not realize the importance of a chance meeting.  I am going to assume that the majority of readers are  here on a romantic quest for more information… and that will be covered.  First Meeting charts can be cast for numerous firsts.  One horrific extreme is when a predator meets his/her victim …. no happy fireworks, and the chart will show this… yet it is a chart that will probably not be cast in the first place.  How often we meet someone and think nothing and then find ourselves in some type of relationship with the other… again, probably no chart cast.   We can’t be neurotic and make notes every time we pass someone.  This is being brought up to point out, it is rare we are prepared and intuitive enough to know when to log in time.   This is true of event charts done in retrospect.  We can guess probably within a few moments, but that isn’t good enough.  Analysis can still be done, just remember that the Cusp Lords are not valid.  A 29 degree Cancer 8th house may actually be a 1 degree Leo 8th house.  Literally the difference between day and night.  :)

First Meetings/event charts can include different combinations.   They can be in person, over the phone, over the internet, rarely a first date as the couple have probably spoken about the date after meeting.  (This is where a first date chart would come in instead, with a flavor of the interaction, not of the whole relationship)  Try to keep track of your firsts, such as first meeting of a teacher, a babysitter, an insurance agent, etc…  they may be valuable in retrospect or they may be a big waste of time.  Ryoin and I have disagreed on this before and it will have to be a judgement call.  He feels the first person to notice the other is the magical moment and I disagree and believe the moment is when the second person is engaged in the transaction.  Otherwise it would be stalking, right?   Again we disagree on the internet and letters and recordings.  He feels it is when the first person hits “send” and the chart cast with that location and time…. I feel it is when it is received at that time and local.  The problem with mine is that the initiating person will be clueless of when that time reception has occurred.    I did have a theory that maybe using a Davidson chart is the answer.  You would have both times and locations as the time space midpoints in that chart.  If anyone experiments with this, let me know how it works out.   Yay for all the technology that uses time stamps.

To read the First Meeting chart we approach it as an individual nativity.  Remember to disregard the angles and the cusp lords if the time is unknown exactly.   This will give a “flavor” to the general setting of the relationship.  Next, take each person and run a synastry against the First Meeting chart.  It is surprising how aspects pop up everywhere, read the chart as one would for a relationship synastry.  To be even more thorough, check the chart against the would be Davidson and Composite of the two individuals.  Astrologer Bob Marks suggests making composites with Event charts and the individual’s nativity.  This would would show problematic spots with each individual with in the relationship.

I can not stress enough, some first meeting charts will be all hard aspects and and not so great houses, see clip, a case of maybe 8th house lord found in the 4th house and a nice square involving Mars.  copy write issues, there will be a redirect link in the clip back to youtube.

Wiggle room in the Transit

Transits pass and effect each and everyone of us so differently and it seems sometimes they pass without effect at all.

I had read an interview by Astrologer Robert Hand.  I am not sure which of the many www addresses it may reside at, as I will always read any of his interviews regardless where they are found.  If I find it after writing this blog, I will include the link in the comments.  He was explaining about a reading he was doing for a client.  The Natal chart and the Transits that had transpired recently spoke of a time that sounded like a Neptune melt down…. drugs, escapism, losses, the usual bad wrap.  He was perplexed when the client said it was the most wonderful period of her life.  As it turned out, the client was an actress (Neptunian illusions) and had a successful run as a character facing those life traumas of homelessness, addiction, etc..  The conclusion is that we will live through our transits one way or another.  Now the question is, can we chose how we learn these lessons?

I was looking into forensic Astrology and found a few aspects for violence repeated by various of the Astrologers.   I knew I had to have had a marker, as I had spent a portion of my life with a violent partner, barely escaping death a few times.  We have to wonder if it is conditioning, family patterns, or just bad choices.  Is it all?  Is it none?  The fact it happened means it was in the chart.  One of the strongest indicators apparently to have a planet at the Saturn/Mars midpoint.  A little quick calculation in the head… and a sickly realization that is the spot of my natal Venus.  Being single started sounding really good at that moment.  I think what further was bothersome is Venus is the Lord (ruler) of my 4th house (that before the musical chairs of house placements, our death was found in the 4th)

I thought and thought…. not all relationships have been bad, and the last one was even worse.. why and what was happening?  I am sure transits have much to say, as my Sun in the 12th has been pummeled by all the outers and now Pluto is a few degrees away.  But some were good, really good.  I am currently almost obsessed with reading of violent murders.  I had been before and so many find it tasteless and taboo… but I read those  books of Narcissism, obsession, and deadly violence when the rest of my life was balanced.  When I would put them away and try the peaceful tofu lifestyle, it appeared it would open a vaccum to sweep in those very Narcissistic types.

I am again at a point of reinventing myself yet again.  Knowing that this a prominent part of my life, I think I will again go work in women’s safe homes.  As my kids finally leave home, I will probably look to taking in foster kids again. This reminds me so of the Hand interview.

Nicholas DeVore lists the degree of homicidal tendencies as 9 degree Virgo where my Uranus is located in the 8th.  Does this mean I am interested in them, or that I could commit homicide, or that I would be a victim?   Something to ponder I suppose….. I have the degree of the Astrologer on the Vertex, and another Astrologer degree conjunct my Pluto,  maybe I should dive in to forensic Astrology… (oddly 3 of my angles are a music degrees…. sigh, a music student from the beginning…. and a groupie forever ;P)

I hope there will be some comments I can bounce around.  This is new ground looking at what has been there in front of me all of this time and still not sure I am seeing it correctly.
